NEW DELHI – Manappuram Finance Ltd. reported significant growth in consolidated net profit for the June quarter on higher revenue boosted by healthy interest income. The non-banking financial company's bottom line was up for the second consecutive quarter.

 

The Kerala-based company's net profit for the June quarter rose over fourfold on year to INR 5.85 billion. Sequentially, the net profit rose nearly 45%. Its net revenue rose 34% on year and 16% on quarter to INR 30.34 billion. Interest income was INR 3 billion, up over 36% on year and 19% on quarter. The company's bottom line for the June quarter beat the Street estimate of INR 4.75 billion.

 

During the June quarter, the company's net interest income rose 25% on year and 17% sequentially to INR 17.59 billion. The total income rose 34% on year and nearly 16% on quarter to INR 30.40 billion.

Manappuram Finance will pay interim dividend of INR 1 per share and set a record date of Aug. 17 for this. The company announced the appointment of Ashish Singh as its managing director and chief executive officer for 5 years from Jan. 1. The board also approved raising of up to INR 1 trillion through the issuance of non-convertible debentures and commercial papers.

 

The non-banking financial company detailed its quarterly earnings post market hours. Shares of the company ended at INR 360 on the National Stock Exchange, down 2.5% from the previous close.

 

The consolidated assets under management grew 57% on year and 9% on quarter to INR 696.35 billion as on Jun. 30. Within this, gold assets under management rose almost 98% on year and 12% sequentially to INR 570.06 billion.

 

Its loans and advances jumped over 58% on year to INR 692.18 billion. Sequentially, these grew 10%.

 

The company's total expenses inched up over 4% on year and nearly 10% on quarter to INR 22.59 billion. Finance cost during Apr-Jun increased nearly 49% on year and 15% on quarter to INR 12.74 billion, while impairment on financial instruments slumped nearly 61% on year to INR 2.26 billion. Sequentially, it rose almost 5%. The company's tax outgo in the reported quarter was INR 1.97 billion, against a tax write-back of INR 310 million in the corresponding quarter a year ago.  End
