MUMBAI/NEW DELHI – Viyash Scientific Ltd.'s consolidated net profit for the June quarter more than doubled on year as total expenses rose slower than the top line for the three months. While the bottom line fell short of the Street's expectation, the top line managed to surpass the view with a moderate year-on-year rise.  

 

Viyash Scientific's consolidated net profit for Apr-Jun more than doubled on year to INR 658.70 million, up over 107% from INR 318.10 million a year ago. Consolidated revenues rose over 19% to INR 9.46 billion from INR 7.92 billion for the three months. JM Financial Institutional Securities Pvt. Ltd. had pegged the bottom line at INR 699 million and revenue from operations at INR 8.9 billion. Estimates from only one brokerage were available with Informist.

 

The company's total expenses rose over 12% on year to INR 8.42 billion. The company's largest expense, cost of materials consumed, was INR 4.02 billion, up 29% on year. Its employee benefit expenses were up 17% on year at INR 1.63 billion and other expenses were INR 1.70 billion, up 8% on year.

 

Viyash Scientific's earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortisation rose 59% to INR 2.05 billion from INR 1.29 billion in the year-ago quarter. The company's EBITDA margin for the June quarter expanded to 21.6% from 16.2% in the year-ago quarter.

 

"This quarter's results are underpinned by robust execution, improving operating leverage, and a well-defined growth strategy," Hari Babu Bodepudi, managing director and chief executive officer, said in a press release. "As we move forward, our focus remains on disciplined execution, operational efficiency, and strategic investments in line with our long-term strategy for sustainable growth."

 

The company's board has approved subscribing to the equity shares of its wholly-owned subsidiary, Alivira Animal Health Ltd., for a total consideration of up to INR 4 billion on a rights basis.

 

The company announced its results during market hours. Shares of Viyash Scientific were at INR 276.6 apiece on the National Stock Exchange at 1306 IST, up 1% from Monday, before it announced its June quarter earnings. The shares closed at INR 261.45 apiece on the National Stock Exchange, down 4.5%.  End
