Finance ministry to hold public sector banking event on Aug 17-18

NEW DELHI – The finance ministry will organise a two-day conclave for heads of public sector banks and public financial institutions starting Aug. 17 to hold discussions on themes including deposit mobilisation and priority sector lending, according to the ministry. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary will address the banking and finance sector chiefs at the PSB Confluence, the ministry said in a press release.
The event will see participation from chiefs of National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development, Export-Import Bank of India, Small Industries Development Bank of India, and officials from Indian Banks Association and the Department of Financial Services, among others. The PSB Confluence will serve as a platform for participating institutions to brainstorm on identified themes, share proven practices, and discuss practical initiatives that can be adopted across the banking ecosystem, the ministry said.
The discussions will focus on themes such as deposit mobilisation, banking for youth, supporting the investment cycle, supporting global capability centres, agriculture and horticulture value chain infrastructure, re-imagining the credit card business, and priority sector lending. "Collectively, these themes have been identified for their potential to translate institutional and policy interventions into measurable, people-centric outcomes," the finance ministry said. End
