MUMBAI – Lemon Tree Hotels Ltd. Friday reported a sharp year-on-year rise in its consolidated net profit for the June quarter, beating analysts' consensus estimate. The company's consolidated net profit for the June quarter rose 20% to INR 460.32 million from INR 383.32 million a year ago. Analysts had estimated the net profit at INR 455.30 million. The revenue from operations increased 9% on year to INR 3.45 billion from INR 3.16 billion reported a year ago, surpassing the Street's expectation of INR 3.43 billion.

 

The hotel chain's network revenue for the reporting quarter grew 16% on year to INR 5.76 billion, with owned hotels contributing INR 3.20 billion, and managed and franchised hotels contributing INR 2.56 billion. The company's fees from management and franchise contracts for third party-owned hotels stood at INR 228 million in the June quarter, up 42% on year. Fees from Fleur Hotels Ltd. stood at INR 226 million, up 6% on year. Total management fees for Lemon Tree stood at INR 454 million, up 21% on year.

 

Lemon Tree Hotel's other income rose over 31% on year to INR 21.47 million and total income rose 9% to INR 3.47 billion for the June quarter. The company's total expenses for the quarter rose 11% on year to INR 1.95 billion. Employee benefit expenses grew over 12% to INR 647 million, cost of food and beverages increased 3% to INR 204 million, and power and fuel expenses rose 9% to INR 239 million. Other expenses rose 13% on year to INR 858 million.

 

The net earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortisation were at INR 1.51 billion, up 7% on year. The net EBITDA margin contracted 99 basis points to 43.8% from 44.8%. 

 

During the quarter, Lemon Tree Hotels opened six managed and franchised hotels with a total of 334 rooms. The company also signed 13 managed and franchised hotels with 1,020 rooms, over three times of the inventory it opened. The company's combined operational and pipeline inventory stands at 23,381 rooms across 279 hotels in over 170 cities, of which 135 hotels with 11,946 rooms across more than 80 cities, are already operational, the company said in an investor presentation.  

 

Patanjali Govind Keswani, the chairman and executive director at Lemon Tree Hotels, will step down from his executive responsibilities upon completion of his current tenure on Mar. 31, 2027. Keswani has been appointed as chairman and non-executive director of the company with effect from Apr. 1, 2027.

 

Lemon Tree Hotels announced its June quarter earnings after market hours. Friday, shares of the company closed at INR 111.01 apiece on the National Stock Exchange, down almost 2% from Thursday.  End
