Shriram AMC Q1 net loss widens as expenses rise 71% YoY

MUMBAI – Shriram Asset Management Co. Ltd.'s net loss widened sharply on year for the June quarter due to a significant rise in the company's total expenses. The employee benefit expenses were the major contributor to the company's total expenses, followed by other expenses.

 

The company posted a net loss of INR 68.85 million for the June quarter, against a net loss of INR 27.58 million a year ago. Its total income rose to INR 40.45 million, up nearly 12% on year.

 

The net gain on fair value changes for the reporting quarter stood at INR 26.50 million, up over 26% on year. Revenue from asset management services rose nearly 21% on year to INR 8.68 million. Interest income fell to INR 5.18 million, down nearly 34% on year.

 

Shriram Asset Management's total expenses surged to INR 108.73 million, up nearly 71% on year. On a sequential basis, total expenses grew over 9%. Employee benefit expenses constituted the major chunk of the company's total expenses for the reporting quarter. The metric rose nearly 87% on year to INR 73.75 million. Other expenses rose over 42% on year to INR 33.61 million. 

 

Friday, shares of the company closed down nearly 2% at INR 290 apiece on the BSE. The company announced its results for the June quarter after market hours.  End
