MUMBAI – NLC India Ltd. Friday reported a year-on-year decline in consolidated net profit for the June quarter despite a sharp rise in revenue. While the company's net profit fell over 39% on year in the June quarter, its revenue from operations increased 23% on year.
The consolidated net profit of the Navratna public sector company fell to INR 4.84 billion from INR 7.98 billion a year ago. Its revenue from operations rose to INR 47.17 billion from INR 38.26 billion a year ago.
The company's consolidated operating margin for the reporting quarter rose to 18.41% from 14.93% a year ago. Revenue from mining operations rose to INR 23.37 billion in the June quarter from INR 20.43 billion a year ago. Sales from the power thermal segment rose to INR 38.10 billion from INR 30.93 billion a year ago.
The company's revenue from its renewables segment rose 22% on year to INR 2.20 billion. While the cost of fuel consumed rose 34% year-on-year to INR 10.42 billion, its finance costs increased 28% to INR 3.82 billion. The company's depreciation and amortisation and other expenses rose 23% and 10% year-on-year, respectively.
The company's earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation for the June quarter was INR 17 billion, up 19% on year.
The company generated 8,262.06 million units in the June quarter, registering a growth of 25% on year.
Friday, the company's shares closed 0.1% higher at INR 304.40 on the National Stock Exchange. NLC India announced its Apr-Jun earnings after market hours. End
