JSW Energy completes Maruti Clean Coal acquisition; capacity rises to 14.8 GW

NEW DELHI – JSW Energy Ltd. Friday said it has completed the acquisition of Maruti Clean Coal and Power Ltd., making it a wholly owned subsidiary and taking its total operating power generation capacity to 14.8 gigawatts. Maruti Clean Coal owns and operates a 300 megawatt thermal power plant at Korba, Chhattisgarh. The acquisition values the company at an enterprise value of INR 14.10 billion, according to the exchange filing by the company. 
 

"The acquired asset's FY26 EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation) stood at ~279 crore(INR 2.79 billion). The asset is EBITDA and PAT-accretive from day one, while also reducing the Company's net leverage and strengthening overall balance sheet resilience. With this acquisition, the Company's total Installed capacity stands at 14,835 MW," the company said in the exchange filing. 

 

The Korba plant has a long-term power purchase agreement for 195 megawatts with Rajasthan discoms through PTC India, with around 14 years remaining. Around 64 megawatts is sold in the merchant market, while coal supply is secured through a long-term fuel supply agreement with South Eastern Coalfields Ltd under the SHAKTI scheme. 

 

For the June quarter, JSW Energy reported a consolidated net profit of INR 4.71 billion on revenue of INR 52.07 billion. Friday, shares of the company closed at INR 564.40 on the National Stock Exchange, up 0.5%.  End
