NEW DELHI/HYDERABAD – GE Vernova T&D India Ltd. expects large orders from the data centers segment in the coming quarters, a senior company official told analysts in the June quarter earnings conference call. At present, data center orders in the company's total order book is not significant, the official pointed.
"...but a few products out of which are there in the data center. Of course, what we are seeing is that now, on the drawing board, we are seeing a much larger data center set-up, which is being planned, which will be at higher voltages. So, we are working with the customers on those data center opportunities, but is it going to materialise in the next quarter, or maybe in the next two or three quarters, this is something we'll get to know soon," the official said.
The company's new orders in the June quarters declined 30% on year to INR 11.4 billion. Of this, 46% of the total orders came through exports, driven by utility centers and data centers demand in the US, the official said. The company saw higher booking run rate for export orders in Q1, as per the official. The company has an order backlog of INR 209.3 billion. In the trailing quarter, the company's order intake was INR 11.37 billion, down 30%.
In the US, the company has order visiblity for utility operations on data centers, according to the official. "...it all depends upon the opportunities which are coming. Not only for better vendor opportunities, apart from that, when the better vendor opportunities are being developed in the US, then there is a lot of utility outlying also getting generated in the US.
Going ahead, the company has maintained its earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortisation margin guidance at 26-27% for Apr-Mar (2026-27), the official said. It is also confident of maintaining INR 70 billiion to INR 80 billion new order intake guidance for the current financial year, as per the official.
For the June quarter, the company generated INR 4.3 billion in cash, leading to available cash balance of INR 29.3 billion. Of this, the company has allocated INR 10 billion cash for capacity expansion, and over INR 2.5 billion cash for dividend payout, the official said.
On a question related to lower revenue from exports, the official pointed out that the exports revenue declined to 30% on year in the June quarter, as against 33% in the year-ago quarter. "There is some impact of elevated commodity prices impacting lower savings in execution compared to the initial price. While we have seen execution within our expected margins, the savings that we anticipated during execution are lower versus the anticipation earlier by the company," the official said. The company has passed on the higher commodity prices to the customers, as per the official.
For the June quarter, the company's net profit rose nearly 25% on year to INR 3.63 billion on revenues of INR 18.36 billion. Friday, shares of the company closed 1.6% lower at INR 4,299 on the National Stock Exchange. End
