Prime Focus reports net loss in Q1 due to one-time cost; revenue up 29% YoY

MUMBAI – Prime Focus Ltd. Thursday reported a consolidated net loss of INR 413 million for the June quarter compared with a net profit of INR 619 million in the year-ago quarter. This was due to a one-time cost of nearly INR 653 million incurred in the June quarter. The company paid INR 714 million, which includes legal and professional fees and tax-related expenses, for insolvency proceedings against its wholly-owned subsidiary. The company gained INR 61 million from the liquidation of its subsidiary, PF Media Ltd.
The company's revenue from operations for the June quarter rose 29% on year to INR 12.56 billion. The company's total expenses were INR 12.71 billion, up 24% on year. The company's employee benefits expense, which constitutes nearly 59% of total expenses, rose 27% on year to INR 7.48 billion. The depreciation and amortisation expense grew over 34% on year to INR 1.79 billion. The company's finance costs rose to INR 1.26 billion, up 11% on year. The company's other expenses fell 4% on year to INR 1.21 billion.
At 0916 IST, shares of Prime Focus traded at INR 287.55 apiece on the National Stock Exchange, down 1.5% from Thursday. The company detailed its June quarter earnings after market hours Thursday. End
