MUMBAI – Hero MotoCorp Ltd.'s revenue from operations for the June quarter grew at the fastest rate in the last 16 quarters on the back of a strong increase in its wholesale sales. The company's profit growth was among the strongest in the last two years but was limited by a rapid increase in cost of materials consumed. The two-wheeler maker's revenue and profit, both beat analysts' expectations.

 

Hero MotoCorp reported a net profit of INR 14.54 billion for the quarter-ended June, up 29% on year and 3.8% on quarter. Consensus estimates had pegged the company's bottom line at INR 12.53 billion.

 

Its revenue from operations for the reporting quarter grew almost 36% on year but only 1.6% on quarter to INR 129.99 billion. Hero MotoCorp's top line was higher than projections of INR 124.69 billion.

 

Hero MotoCorp's earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortisation for the June quarter stood at INR 17.27 billion, up 25% on year. Its EBITDA margin for the quarter was 13.3%, down from 14.4% in the year-ago quarter.  

 

 

"Our growth strategy is centered on building a future-ready mobility company by accelerating premiumisation, scaling our electric mobility business, expanding our global footprint while retaining our leadership in the commuter segment," the company's Chief Executive Officer Harshavardhan Chitale said in a press release. 

 

Hero MotoCorp reported a revenue of INR 16.89 billion from its parts, accessories, and merchandising business in the June quarter, up 30% on year.

 

The company incurred total expenses of INR 114.84 billion for the June quarter, up 37% on year. Cost of raw materials form the bulk of its expenses. These input costs rose 47% on year to INR 92.22 billion.

 

Hero MotoCorp announced its earnings for the June quarter late Thursday, well after the market closed. Thursday, its shares ended 2.5% lower at INR 5,550.50 on the National Stock Exchange.    End
