MUMBAI – Siemens Energy India Ltd. Thursday reported a sharp year-on-year increase in net profit and revenue for the June quarter, led by a rise in power generation and power transmission sales. The rise in revenue also outpaced the rise in total expenses for the quarter, aiding the bottom line. The top-line growth for the June quarter was the best in five quarters while the bottom-line growth was the highest in four quarters.
Siemens Energy reported a net profit of INR 4.41 billion for the June quarter, up nearly 68% on year. Its revenue for the quarter grew over 39% on year to INR 24.86 billion. Sequentially, the bottom line was up around 18% and top line rose nearly 4%. The company's revenues from the power transmission segment for the June quarter rose nearly 42% on year to INR 13.86 billion. Power generation sales for the quarter were up 36% at INR 10.99 billion.
Siemens Energy's total expenses for the quarter were up 31% at INR 19.50 billion. This was mainly due to a rise of nearly 90% on year in project costs and other direct costs to INR 9.49 billion. The company's other expenses also rose around 58% to INR 2.56 billion while the cost of materials consumed fell over 11% to INR 4.18 billion.
The company's earnings before interest and tax rose nearly 74% on year to INR 5.45 billion for the June quarter, with the EBIT margin rising to 21.9% from 17.6% in the year-ago quarter. The company had an order backlog of INR 193.31 billion as of Jun. 30, up 16.4% on year. For the nine months ended June, the company reported a net profit of INR 11.28 billion, up over 52% on year. It earned revenues of INR 67.91 billion for the period, up 31% on year.
Siemens Energy declared its June quarter results late Thursday. Its shares closed at INR 3,252.20 on the National Stock Exchange ahead of the earnings, down 1.1% from Wednesday. End
