MUMBAI – Vijaya Diagnostic Centre Ltd. Thursday posted a solid growth in its consolidated net profit for the June quarter on the back of a strong growth in its revenue. Both the net profit and revenue were smartly ahead of the Street's estimates.
The company's net profit for the June quarter rose 38% on year to INR 531 million, signifcantly higher than the consensus estimate of INR 480.14 million. The company had reported a net profit of INR 386 million in the year-ago quarter. Its revenue for the June quarter rose 23% on year to INR 2.31 billion from INR 1.88 billion. It was nearly 3% more than the analysts' estimate of INR 2.25 billion.
Vijaya Diagnostic's other income rose 21% on year to INR 85 million and boosted the company's total income to INR 2.39 billion. The company's finanace cost rose 47% on year to INR 110 million and total expenses rose 18% on year to INR 1.69 billion. Its cost of materials consumed rose 20% to INR 256 million, employee benefits expense grew 19% to INR 375 million, and depreciation and amortisation expense rose 20% to INR 251 million. Other expenses rose 13% on year to INR 694 million.
The Hyderabad-based company is one of India's largest business to consumer diagnostic chain and operates 200 centres across more than 25 cities and towns in six states.
Thursday, shares of the company closed 1.42% lower at INR 1,369.80 apiece on the National Stock Exchange. The company announced its earnings for the June quarter after market hours. End.
