MUMBAI – Firstsource Solutions Ltd. reported a lower consolidated net profit for the June quarter due to a one-time cost. The company's revenue from operations grew modestly for the quarter. Company's net profit and revenue from operations for the quarter came in lower than the Street's estimates.
The company's consolidated net profit for the June quarter fell 19% on quarter to INR 1.66 billion from INR 2.05 billion in the March quarter, missing analysts' expectation of INR 2.26 billion. The net profit was down 2% on year. The company's consolidated net revenue from operations for the quarter rose 5% on quarter to INR 27.25 billion, marginally missing the Street's estimate of INR 27.30 billion. The revenue from operations was up 24% on year. In the March quarter, the net revenue from operations was INR 25.83 billion.
The company's total expenses for the June quarter rose 5% on quarter to INR 24.40 billion. The company's employee benefits expenses was reported at INR 15.32 billion, up 4% on quarter. The depreciation and amortisation expense of the company fell 1% on quarter to INR 1.15 billion. The finance costs and other expenses of the company were reported at INR 518 million and INR 7.42 billion respectively for the June quarter. The finance costs was marginally down on quarter and other expenses were up 10% on quarter.
The company reported net exceptional items expense for the June quarter of INR 717 million, which dragged down the net profit. The exceptional items expense of the company was led by the termination of contract by a client leading to an expense of INR 357 million and the penalty paid to a customer of INR 284 million. An amount of INR 76 million was recognized as a of fair value adjustment on the contingent consideration payable on account of an earlier business combination. The tax paid by the company fell over 3% on quarter to INR 534 million.
The company's revenue in constant currency in the June quarter was up 2.2% on quarter and up 12.3% on year. The company's consolidated earnings before interest and tax for the June quarter was reported at INR 3.37 billion, up from INR 3.14 billion in the March quarter. The consolidated EBIT margin for the June quarter was 12.4% up from 12.2% in the March quarter.
Firstsource's healthcare segment's revenue for the June quarter rose 1% sequentially to INR 9.08 billion. The banking and financial services segment reported revenue of INR 9.14 billion, and the communication, media and technology segment revenue was INR 5.66 billion, both up 8.6% on quarter.
The company's total headcount was 36,875 for the June quarter, up from 36,205 in the March quarter. The company net added 670 employees on a quarterly basis and 2,380 employees on year. The trailing twelve month attrition rate was 33.1% in the June quarter from 29.7% in the March quarter.
Firstsource Solutions expects the revenue to grow 10-13% in constant currency for the financial year 2027 (Apr-Mar). The company estimates the EBIT margin for FY27 between 12.25-12.75%.
Firstsource Solutions signed four large deals in the June quarter. The company also reported an addition of 12 new clients into its portfolio. The company's banking and financial services segment added five new clients, healthcare segment added four new clients, communications, media and technology added two new clients and the diversified industries added one new client in the June quarter.
Shares of the company ended at INR 293.95 on the National Stock Exchange, down more than 12% since the company detailed its June quarter earnings. The stock was down over 13% from Wednesday. End
