MUMBAI – Rategain Travel Technologies Ltd. Thursday reported an over two-fold on-year rise in consolidated net profit and revenue from operations for the June quarter. The company posted a consolidated net profit of INR 949.10 million, up 102% on year from INR 469.32 million. Sequentially, the net profit was up 36% from INR 700 million. The June quarter was driven by strong demand for travel during the FIFA World Cup in the US and by the new sales through the Sojern business in the Asia-Pacific region.
The company's consolidated revenue from operations was up 188% at INR 7.85 billion against INR 2.73 billion in the year-ago quarter. This led the company's total income to rise 168% on year to INR 7.88 billion. The company's other income fell 85% on year to INR 30 million.
RateGain Travel Technologies' total expenses for the quarter rose 187% on year to INR 6.67 billion. The employee benefits expense and and other expenses more than doubled on year. The company's earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortisation for the June quarter were INR 1.71 billion, up 245% from INR 497 million a year ago. The EBITDA margin expanded to 21.9% from 18.2%.
The company's adjusted EBITDA rose nearly four times to INR 1.93 billion from INR 497 million in the year-ago quarter. The company's consolidated adjusted EBITDA margin was 24.6% from 18.2% in the year-ago quarter.
The companys's adjusted profit after tax more than doubled on year to INR 1.17 billion for the June quarter. The company agreed to provide a $65 million corporate guarantee to help its subsidiaries RateGain Technologies Ltd. UK and Sojern Inc. secure bank loans. On Thursday, RateGain Travel Technologies paid $16 million, repaying 38% of total loan it had taken to acquire Sojern.
The revenue from North America contributed 66.2% to the total revenue of the company, revenue from Asia Pacific contributed 10.8% of the revenue, Europe contributed 20.5% of the revenue in the June quarter.
Following the acquisition of Sojern, the company added 14,158 new clients to the portfolio. The company added 1,261 new employees for the June quarter. The company also added INR 1.41 billion of new contracts.
"Together with Sojern, we are focused on one outcome, helping travel and hospitality businesses grow faster, with sharper data and better decisions at every step," said Bhanu Chopra, founder and managing director of the company.
Shares of RateGain Travel Technologies rose sharply to an intra-day high of INR 1,050 apiece on the National Stock Exchange after the June quarter earnings were announced. The stock then gave up some gains and was at INR 946.4 at 1432 IST, down 3% from Wednesday. End
