MUMBAI – Shyam Metalics and Energy Ltd.'s consolidated stainless steel sales increased nearly 13% on year and over 15% on month to 9,149 tonnes in July. The average realisation from steel sales improved more than 36% on year and 1.4% on month to INR 179,069 per tonne in July, according to its monthly business update.

The company's consolidated aluminium foil sales grew over 8% on year but fell nearly 14% on month to 1,855 tonnes in July. The average sales realisations for the segment rose more than 36% on year and nearly 1% on month to INR 507,101 per tonne, the company said. 

The company's sales of pellets during July were 165,231 tonnes, up nearly 88% on year. However, the average realisation from pellet sales remained largely flat on year at INR 8,597 per tonne in July. Sales of speciality alloys declined over 20% on year to 17,407 tonnes in July, but average realisations rose over 20% on year to INR 112,677 per tonne. 

Shyam Metalics' carbon steel sales grew nearly 11% on year to 153,693 tonnes in July. Average realisation from carbon steel sales grew over 1% on year to INR 42,270 per tonne. In July, the company sold 20,103 tonnes of cold rolled coils or sheets, up around 53% on year and the average realisation from the segment was INR 86,940 per tonne, up 17.6% on year.

Sales of hot rolled tubes or pipes saw a near six-fold on-year jump to 387 tonnes in July. Average realisation from hot rolled tube sales grew over 11% on year to INR 54,961 per tonne. The company sold 36,014 tonnes of sponge iron last month, down over 47% on year. The average realisation from sponge iron sales fell nearly 2% on year to INR 22,576 per tonne in July. Sales of pig iron grew over 65% on year to 92,579 tonnes, and the average realisation was INR 39,213 per tonne, up over 21% on year.

For the June quarter, Shyam Metalics reported a consolidated net profit of INR 3.45 billion on revenue of INR 54.55 billion. Thursday, shares of the company closed over 1% lower at INR 1,015.50 on the National Stock Exchange.  End
