MUMBAI – The net profit of Whirlpool of India Ltd. for the June quarter missed analysts' expectations and declined considerably on year as its expenses rose faster than its revenue. The company's top line also missed estimates, albeit by a smaller margin than its net profit.
Whirlpool reported a net profit of INR 891.60 million, down 34% on year and lower than expectations of INR 1.29 billion. Its revenue grew 11% on year to INR 25.82 billion. Consensus estimates had pegged its top line at INR 26.82 billion.
Its expenses for the quarter expanded almost 16% on year to INR 25.25 billion. The bulk of this growth was driven by a 20% increase in the cost of raw materials and components consumed by the company, to INR 13.70 billion. Its staff costs and other expenses also registered a modest year-on-year rise.
At 1512 IST, its shares traded 1.5% lower at INR 808.05 on the National Stock Exchange. End
