MCX Q1 EBITDA doubles to INR 5.44 bln; EBITDA margin expands to 72%

MUMBAI – Multi Commodity Exchange of India Ltd.'s consolidated earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortisation doubled to INR 5.44 billion for the June quarter from INR 2.74 billion reported in the year-ago quarter. The company's EBITDA margin also expanded to 72% for the quarter from 68% in the year ago quarter. The company's net profit margin also widended to 55% from 50% in the year ago quarter.
MCX's average daily turnover for future and options surged 238% on year to INR 10.5 trillion reported in the year-ago quarter. The company's total clients increased to 1.37 million in the quarter from 703,000 in the same quarter last year.
"As the market continues to evolve, we remain focused on expanding our participation, product offerings, and strengthening our technology capabilities," Praveena Rai, managing director and chief executive officer of the company, said in a press release. "We look forward to the opportunities ahead and remain committed to creating sustainable long-term value for the entire commodity ecosystem."
MCX announded its June quarter earnings after market hours on Tuesday. For the June quarter, MCX reported a consolidated net profit of INR 4.13 billion on revenues of INR 7.02 billion. Tuesday, shares of MCX closed at INR 2,680 apiece on the National Stock Exhange, up over 1% from Monday. End
