CE Info Systems Q1 Profit After Tax down 2%, sales down 3% Quarter-over-Quarter

MUMBAI – C.E. Info Systems Ltd. Tuesday reported a consolidated net profit of INR 497.7 million for the June quarter, down nearly 2% on quarter, but up 8% on year. Analysts' had expected the company to report a net profit in the range of INR 471 million and INR 587 million. The company had reported a net profit of INR 507.7 million for the March quarter.
The company's consolidated revenue from operations fell 3% sequentially to INR 1.40 billion, from INR 1.45 billion it had reported in the March quarter. The analysts had expected the net sales to be in the range of INR 1.37 billion and INR 1.56 billion.
The company reported hardware sales of INR 231 million, up 29% on quarter, while sale of services fell more than 8% sequentially to INR 1.16 billion.
The company's revenue from automotive segment for the June quarter rose 19% sequentially to INR 588 million, revenue from the enterprise segment rose 4% on quarter to INR 642 million. The revenue from the government segment fell 50% on quarter to INR 167 million. The total expenses of the company for the June quarter rose more than 5% sequentially to INR 929 million.
C.E. Info Systems reported an earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortisation of INR 561 million for the June quarter, flat from INR 559 million it had reported in the same quarter a year ago. The EBITDA margin contracted 570 basis points to 40.2% from 45.9% on year.
MapmyIndia's map-led business reported a revenue of INR 987 million, driven by steady demand for digital maps, location intelligence, and software platforms, while an INR 40 million of one-time write-off contracted the EBITDA margin. The company's revenue from Internet of things-led business grew 75% on year to INR 411 million.
"Our performance (for the June quarter) reflects the continued strength and moat of our products, platforms, APIs and solutions, alongside disciplined execution and continuously growing trust of customers across Automotive, Enterprise and Government segments," Rakesh Verma, managing director of the company said.
Tuesday, shares of C.E. Info Systems fell nearly 6?ter it detailed the June quarter earnings. The stock closed at INR 1,139.7 on the National Stock Exchange, down more than 4% from Monday. End
