Of the four homogenous regions in the country, rainfall was below normal in three and above normal in one. In south peninsular India, rainfall continued to be in surplus for the fifth consecutive day due to the presence of multiple troughs over the region. The intensity of rainfall over the region is expected to decrease in the next few days, the weather department said.
In central India, rainfall was 12% below normal at 9.2 millimetres on Sunday, according to the data.
