MUMBAI – Clean Science and Technology Ltd. Saturday reported a rise in its net profit for the June quarter, beating the Street's estimate by a sharp 36%. The company reported a net profit of INR 733.50 million for the June quarter, up around 5% on year and 26% sequentially. Analysts had estimated the company's bottom line at INR 537 million. 

 

The company reported revenue from operations of INR 2.68 billion, above the Street's estimate of INR 2.53 billion. It was up 11% on year from INR 2.43 billion. On a sequential basis, revenue is up around 8%.

 

The speciality chemical manufacturers' total expenses stood at INR 1.93 billion. On a sequential basis, the total expenses were up around 11%, but on a yearly basis, they were up 19%. The company's cost of material consumed increased substantially over 36% to INR 1.27 billion in the reporting quarter. The other expenses were at INR 504.65 million, down 14% sequentially but up nearly 15% on year.

 

Clean Sciences's earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortisation stood at INR 960 million for the June quarter, unchanged from the March quarter and up 3% on year. The EBITDA margin shrunk 510 basis points to 36.5% from 41.6% for the year-ago quarter. 

 

The company's performance chemicals segment contributed 81% to the revenue from operations. Pharma and agriculture intermediates contributed 12% to the company's revenue, and fast-moving consumer goods chemicals contributed 7%. The rise in the performance chemicals segment was led by the company's Hindered amine light stabilisers' series, which accounted for 22% of the company's net sales for the June quarter. 

 

Friday, shares of Clean Science closed marginally higher at INR 734.05 apiece on the National Stock Exchange.  End
