MUMBAI – Central Depository Services (India) Ltd. reported stable net profit growth on year for the June quarter owing to an increase in annual issuer income and other income, the top contributors to the total income of the company. The bottom line of the company was better than analysts' expectations.

 

Central Depository's net profit grew 15% on year to INR 1.18 billion in the June quarter from INR 1.02 billion from the year-ago quarter. Analysts had expected the profit to be INR 1.07 billion. The bottom line grew 47% sequentially. The company's revenue from operations was INR 2.9 billion, up 13% on year and up 11% sequentially. 

 

The company's total expenses for the June quarter grew 21% on year to INR 1.7 billion. Computer technology-related expenses rose 38% on year to INR 476 million and other expenses rose 11% on year to INR 606 million, becoming the highest contributor to total expenses.

 

The company opened around 5.8 million new demat accounts during the June quarter and crossed a total of 186 million demat accounts as of Jun. 30 as compared to 159 million accounts from a year ago. Demat custody value with the Central Depository grew 11% on year to INR 88 trillion.

 

Friday, shares of the company had closed at INR 1,333 apiece on the National Stock Exchange, down from Thursday. End
