Eicher Motors July motorcycle sales rise 34% on year, exports up 10%

MUMBAI – Sales of Royal Enfield motorcycles of Eicher Motors Ltd. rose 34% on year to 118,232 units for July. Export sales of the motorcyles rose 10% on year to 12,915 units in the month. For Apr-Jul, total sales increased 27% on year to 448,659 units while international sales fell 13% on year to 42,168 units, the company said in a press release Saturday.
Sales of Royal Enfield bikes with engine capacity up to 350 cubic centimetres, which include the Classic Bullet 350, Hunter 350, and Meteor 350, and electric bikes rose 38% on year to 105,048 units in July. Sales of the Interceptor 650, Continental 650, and Super Meteor 650, which have engine volumes larger than 350 cubic centimetres, rose 10% to 13,184 units. For Apr-Jul, sales of bikes with engine capacity up to 350 cubic centimetres were at 399,674 units, up 32% on year, while sales of motorcycles above 350 cubic centimetres fell 2% to 48,985 units.
"July was another strong month for us, marked by steady performance in our core motorcycle portfolio and an extremely encouraging response to our first electric motorcycle, the Flying Flea C6," B. Govindarajan, managing director of Eicher Motors and chief executive officer of Royal Enfield, said in the press release. Eicher Motors is on track to maintain this momentum while heading into the festival period, he said. The company is set to add 10 new retail stores under its electric mobility brand Flying Flea in Bengaluru to meet the strong demand for the C6.
For the June quarter, Eicher Motors reported a consolidated net profit of INR 14.63 billion on revenues of INR 66.32 billion. Friday, its shares ended at INR 7,833.50 on the National Stock Exchange, down 1% from Thursday. End
