MUMBAI – Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. Saturday said the domestic wholesale sales of its passenger vehicles hit a record high of 200,123 units, up a staggering 42% on year. Its exports, however, fell to the lowest in seven months to 30,056 units, down 5% on year. Its overall automobile despatches in July improved 34% on year to 241,421 units.

 

The company sold 103,456 passenger cars in July, up 42% on year. Of this, sales of mini cars jumped 85% on year to 12,634 units. Models in this category include the Alto and S-Presso. Additionally, sales of compact cars grew 38% on year to 90,822 units. Models in this sub-segment include Baleno, Celerio, Ciaz, Dzire, Ignis, Swift, and WagonR.

 

Wholesale sales of its utility vehicles in India grew a touch over 49% on year to 78,851 units. Maruti Suzuki's utility vehicle portfolio includes Brezza, Ertiga, e Vitara, Fronx, Grand Vitara, Invicto, Jimny, Victoris, and XL6. Overall, its domestic passenger vehicle sales grew 42% to 196,203 units.

 

Including domestic sales of its passenger vehicles, light commercial vehicle Super Carry, and shipments to other carmakers, Maruti Suzuki's despatches in July increased 34% on year to 211,365 units.

 

For the June quarter, Maruti Suzuki reported a net profit of INR 33.52 billion on revenues of INR 524.56 billion. Friday, its shares closed 0.3% higher at INR 14,234 apiece on the National Stock Exchange.   End
