Aditya Birla Lifestyle Q1 sales seen up; PAT view divided

MUMBAI – All three brokerages tracking Aditya Birla Lifestyle Brands Ltd. expect the company to report a rise in its consolidated net sales for the June quarter, driven by revenue growth in its retail segment. However, only one of these estimates the company to report a growth in its June quarter consolidated net profit; the other two expect the company to report a lower net profit.
Motilal Oswal Financial Services Ltd. expects Aditya Birla Lifestyle to report a consolidated net profit of INR 331 million for the June quarter, up 38% from INR 240 million in the year-ago quarter. The other brokerages - Nuvama Wealth Management Ltd. and Emkay Global Financial Services Ltd. – expect the net profit to come in at INR 162 million and INR 108 million respectively. This represents a sharp on-year fall in the net profit.
All three brokerages expect the company's consolidated net sales to grow on year to between INR 20.39 billion and INR 20.72 billion for the June quarter, according to the estimates. The highest estimate is from Nuvama Wealth Management Ltd. and the lowest is from Motilal Oswal. The company's net sales were INR 18.41 billion in the year-ago quarter. These estimates represent a double digit growth in net sales.
The company's revenue growth will be driven by a 7% on-year rise in its retail sales in Lifestyle Brands and growth in the company's emerging brands, Motilal Oswal said. The retail sector is expected to report steady numbers for the June quarter, while demand recovery is expected to moderate sequentially, Motilal Oswal said. The sector's performance will be impacted by inflation and its pressures on household budget and the pace of store additions within the sector is expected to remain steady, the brokerage added.
Birla Lifestyle is expected to report earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortisation of between INR 2.88 billion and INR 2.96 billion for the June quarter, according to the estimates. The highest estimate for EBITDA is from Motilal Oswal and the lowest is from Emkay. The company's EBITDA was INR 2.86 billion in the year-ago quarter. The company's EBITDA margin is expected to expand 90 basis points on year from 15.5% in the year-ago quarter, Motilal Oswal said.
Aditya Birla Lifestyle Brands is an apparel company formed by the demerger of the Madura Fashion and Lifestyle business from Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Ltd. The company encompasses ther Louis Philippe, Van Heusan, Allen Solly, Peter England, Simon Carter, American Eagle, and Reebok brands.
Aditya Birla Lifestyle will announce its June quarter earnings Saturday. Shares of the company closed almost unchanged at INR 94.67 apiece on the National Stock Exchange Friday. The shares are down almost 17% since the company announced its March quarter earnings on May 7.
Of the four brokerage reports on the company available with Informist, three have a "buy" recommendation on the stock with an average target price of INR 152 per share, 60% higher than the current market price. One has a "hold" recommendation on the stock with a target price of INR 110.
