MUMBAI – Century Plyboards (India) Ltd., the building material company, has reported a growth in the consolidated net profit for the June quarter, missing the analysts' estimates and revenue grew beating the Street's view. The growth in the net profit was led by the revenue from operations outpacing the total expenses of the company.

 

Century Plyboards' consolidated net profit for the June quarter grew 55% on year to INR 803.01 million from INR 518.56 million in the year-ago quarter. The anaylsts' had estimated the net profit of the company at INR 829.40 million. Sequentially, the net profit was up 3%. The company's revenue from operations was reported at INR 15.61 billion for the June quarter, up 34% from INR 11.69 billion in the year-ago quarter. The anaylsts' had estimated the revenues at INR 14.45 billion for the quarter. Sequentially, the revenues were up 5%.

 

The company's total expenses was at INR 14.47 billion, up 32% on year. The company's cost of materials consumed was up 43% on year at INR 7.72 billion, and the depreciation and amortisation expense was up 47% on year at INR 541 million for the quarter. Employee benefits expense of the company was up 23% on year at INR 2.37 billion and the finance costs were up 33% at INR 296 million. The company's purchase of stock-in-trade was the only expense that saw a fall un the June quarter at INR 701 million, down 9% on year

 

The company paid INR 330 million as tax in the June quarter, up 81% on year.

 

At 1452 IST, shares of Century Plyboards (India) fell slightly at INR 807.10 on the National Stock Exchange, after the company announced its June quarter earnings during the market hours. 

 

The company's consolidated earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortisation came at INR 2.00 billion from INR 1.30 billion in the year-ago quarter. The EBITDA margin for the June quarter was 13.0%, up from 12.5% in the year-ago quarter.

 

Century Plyboards' standalone net profit rose 39% to INR 945 million from INR 678 million in the year-ago quarter. Sequentially, the net profit was up 21%. The company's standalone revenue from operations was at INR 13.48 billion, up 32% from INR 10.17 billion in the year-ago quarter. Sequentially, the revenue was up 5%.

 

Century Plyboards' plywood segment reported a sales of INR 8.61 billion, up 32% on year. The segment reported an EBITDA of INR 1.44 billion, up 58% on year. The segment's EBITDA margin of total income was 16.7%. The segment's volume rose 29% on year.

 

Sales of laminate segment rose 14% on year to INR 1.99 billion for the June quarter. The segment reported an EBITDA of INR 207 million, up 96% on year. The segment's EBITDA margin of total income was 10.2%. The segment's volume was down 8% on year.

 

The sales of medium density fibre board grew 32% on year. The medium density fibre board segment reported an EBITDA of INR 213 million, down 22% on year. The segment's EBITDA margin of total income was 6.4%. The segment's volume rose 22% on year.

 

Shares of Century Plyboards closed at INR 799.50 apiece on the National Stock Exchange, slightly up from Thursday, after the company announced the earnings result for the June quarter in the market hours. End
