MUMBAI – SJVN Ltd.'s net profit for the June quarter fell slightly on year due to higher expenses incurred from fuel cost and electricity purchased for trading. These costs were not reported in the year-ago quarter.

 

Public sector power company reported a consolidated net profit of INR 2.25 billion, which was slightly down from INR 2.28 billion it had reported in the year-ago quarter. Sequentially, the net profit saw a turnaround from a loss of INR 1.18 billion.

 

SJVN reported a net consolidated revenue from operations of INR 13.94 billion in the June quarter, up 52% from INR 9.17 billion in the year-ago quarter. Sequentially, the revenue from operations fell 7% from INR 14.96 billion it had reported in the March quarter.

 

The company's operating margin for the June quarter fell to 48.17% from 68.32% a year ago. The company's total expenses for the June quarter nearly doubled. The company's finance cost for the June quarter rose 51% on year to INR 3.26 billion, restricting the profit to grow further. The other income fell 36% from year ago quarter to INR 344 million.

 

At 1507 IST, shares of SJVN Ltd. traded flat at INR 68.46 on the National Stock Exchange after the company announced its earnings.  End
