MUMBAI – Data Patterns (India) Ltd. Thursday reported lower-than-expected net profit and revenues for the June quarter. The company's bottom line was weighed down heavily by a sharp fall in its changes in inventory. The company's net profit was 16% lower than the lowest of the Street estimate, and 45% lower than the highest of the estimate. Revenues were almost 4% lower than the lowest Street estimate and more than 21% lower than the highest Street estimate.

Data Patterns reported a standalone net profit of INR 220.6 million in the June quarter, nearly 14% lower from INR 255.0 million in the year-ago quarter. The company reported revenues from operation of INR 1.16 billion, nearly 17% higher from INR 993 million in the year ago quarter. The company's total expenses rose 23% in the quarter to INR 939 million. The company's expenses grew faster than its revenues, which weighed heavily on the company's bottom line.

The company's cost of materials consumed fell to INR 307 million, down more than 46% from the year-ago quarter of INR 572 million. However, changes in inventories of work in progress and finished goods narrowed to INR 62.1 million in the June quarter from INR 371 million in the year-ago quarter. The rest of the company's expenses remained flat on year, implying lower gains from its changes in inventory contributed the most to the company's shrinking bottom line. Data Patterns' profit before taxes fell over 13% on year to INR 295 million in the June quarter from INR 340 million in the year-ago quarter.

The company reported earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortisation of INR 314 million for the June quarter, down over 2% from INR 321 million in the year-ago quarter. The company acquired the Chennai-based composite manufacturing company ST Advanced Composites Pvt. Ltd. for INR 100 million.

"The acquisition will result in an in-house capability for composite parts required in the Company's radar and other programs. This blending of capability will also expand the addressable value proposition in Data Patterns' product offerings," the company said.

Data Patterns' order book as of Jun. 30 was INR 9.28 billion. The company had reported its order book at INR 7.30 billion as of Jun. 30, 2025. The company's orders received and negotiated as on date were INR 26.54 billion.

"The quarter has met our expectations," Srinivasagopalan Rangarajan, chairman and managing director of the company, said. "Order inflow has been encouraging since the start of the financial year, with over Rs. 226 Cr (INR 2.26 billion) in orders received so far, and more in the pipeline. While revenue for the quarter was modest, primarily due to temporary delays in customer approvals, these are expected to normalize in the coming quarters."  End
