MUMBAI – AWL Agri Business Ltd. Thursday reported a strong increase in its net profit for the June quarter on the back of a robust revenue growth. The company's revenue growth was driven by an increase in the underlying volume.
The company reported a consolidated net profit of INR 3.50 billion, up 48% on year from INR 2.36 billion. This was higher than the INR 1.74 billion, estimated by Nuvama Wealth Management Ltd. The net profit increase was up 20% sequentially from INR 2.92 billion. The company's other income declined 67% on year to INR 687.7 million. The company's consolidated revenue from operations for the June quarter was INR 200.48 billion, up 18% on year from INR 170.59 billion. The top line was slightly above the estimate of INR 196.07 billion from Nuvama Wealth. Sequentially, revenues fell 7% from INR 214.65 billion. The company's consolidated underlying volume growth was up 7% on year.
The company's total expenses for the June quarter rose 16% on year to INR 196.58 billion. The cost of material consumed, which constitutes around 95% of total expenses, increased by 25% to INR 187.27 billion. The purchase of stock-in-trade fell by 20% to INR 6.71 billion. The company's employee benefits expenses and other expenses increased 21% and 22%, respectively.
The company's sales from edible oil rose 15% on year to INR 154.6 billion while sales from food and fast moving consumer goods rose 22% on year to INR 17.26 billion. The sales from the industry essentials segment increased 28% to INR 28.60 billion.
The company's earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortisation for the June quarter were up 34% on year to INR 6.93 billion. This was due to stronger execution across businesses, disciplined cost management, improving product mix, and healthy contributions from all business segments.
In the June quarter, the company's industry essential segment EBITDA was up 47% on year to INR 1.76 billion. The edible oil segment's EBITDA grew 33% to INR 4.92 billion, while the volume growth was up 2% on year. The company's food and fast moving consumer goods segment generated INR 1.04 billion in EBITDA, up 9% from a year ago quarter.
AWL Agri Business drove strong growth across its distribution networks, led by alternate channels like e-commerce, quick commerce, and modern trade, which expanded 27% on year. Quick commerce surged 56% on year to overall market growth, while the hotel, restaurant and cafe business increased 30% on year.
"Food & FMCG continues to be the primary growth driver for the Company, supported by sustained momentum across our core categories, expanding distribution and increasing consumer preference for branded packaged foods," said Shrikant Kanhere, managing director and chief executive office, in the press release. "We remain confident that these strategic priorities will enable us to sustain the growth momentum in our Food & FMCG business while continuing to enhance the quality of earnings and create long-term value for all our stakeholders," he added.
Thursday, shares of the company ended at INR 187.58 on the National Stock Exchange, down 1.2% from Wednesday. AWL Agri Business announced its June quarter earnings after market hours. End
