MUMBAI – IRB Infrastructure Developers Ltd. Thursday posted robust growth in its consolidated net profit for the June quarter, beating the Street's estimates. The company posted modest revenue growth for the quarter. 

 

The company's net profit rose 51% on year to INR 3.06 billion from INR 2.02 billion. The consesus estimate for the bottom line was INR 2.76 billion. The company's consolidated revenue for the June quarter rose 2% on year to INR 21.37 billion from INR 20.99 billion. The consesus estimate for the top line was INR 18.38 billion. The company's consolidated construction revenue, which constitutes 45% of total revenue from operations, fell nearly 21% on year to INR 9.64 billion from INR 12.14 billion.  

 

The company announced an interim dividend of INR 0.05 per equity share. The record date for the dividend is Aug. 5. Shares of IRB Infrastructure fell marginally after the anouncement of the earnings and were traded at INR 20.24 apiece on the National Stock exchange at 1415 IST.

 

The company's consolidated earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortisation were INR 11.88 billion, up 17% from INR 10.18 billion in the year-ago quarter. Its EBITDA margin rose to 57% from 47% for the year-ago quarter. Analysts had expected the EBITDA margin to expand to 44.6-55.0% 

 

The company's road work and site expenses fell 21% on year to INR 5.16 billion  and its cost of materials consumed fell over 23% on year to INR 2.29 billion. Its finance cost fell 5% on year to INR 4.38 billion. The company's depreciation and amortisation expense rose nearly 24% on year to INR 3.33 billion. Its other expenses rose 39% on year to INR 1.30 billion. Its tax expenses rose 31% on year to INR 1.10 billion. 

 

"The road ahead is highly promising, India's growing economy and the government's continued push for public-private partnership creates an ideal synergy for expansion," Virendra D. Mhaiskar, chairman and managing director of the company said. "By seamlessly pursuing upcoming market opportunities and by building on our established asset base, IRB is confidently moving toward its goal of a Rs. 1,40,000 crore (INR 1.4 trillion) asset base by 2030, ensuring accelerated and long-term value for all our stakeholders." 

 

IRB is one of the largest integrated infrastructure assets company in the roads and highways sector. It accounts for nearly one-tenth of the total toll revenues in the country. Shares of IRB closed at INR 20.25 on the National Stock Exchange, up more than 1% over Wednesday.  End
