MUMBAI - Data Patterns (India) Ltd. is expected to report higher revenue and profit for the June quarter aided by healthy execution of defence orders, a favourable product mix, and continued momentum in the government's defence procurement despite the quarter being a seasonally weak one, according to brokerages tracking the company.

The defence electronics company is expected to report a standalone net profit of between INR 263 million and INR 402 million, according to the estimates from three brokerages. This will be more than the net profit of INR 255 million reported in the year-ago quarter. The highest estimate of net profit is INR 402 million from PhillipCapital Pvt. Ltd. and the lowest is INR 263 million from JM Financial Institutional Securities Pvt. Ltd. The third estimate is INR 306 million from Nuvama Wealth Management Ltd.

Although net profit in this quarter will be significantly down from the company's net profit of INR 1.06 billion in the March quarter, this is expected as the company had earlier said most of its business happens in the second and fourth quarter of the year. The low profit estimate from brokerages for the June quarter will most likely be a seasonal factor.

The net sales of the company for the June quarter are seen between INR 1.21 billion and INR 1.48 billion, according to the estimates. This will be a significant increase from INR 993 million in revenues reported in the year ago quarter. The highest estimate for net sales is INR 1.48 billion from PhillipCapital and the lowest estimate is INR 1.21 billion from Nuvama Wealth Management Ltd.

Data Patterns' order book coverage will strengthen and it will gain more new orders as several orders were in advanced stages of negotiation, PhillipCapital said. The company is expected to gain INR 10 billion in order inflows, including INR 4.6 billion worth of orders secured by mid-May, Nuvama said.

The defence equipment manufacturer's earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortisation are expected to be between a low of INR 393 million estimated by JM Financial and a high of INR 513 million, projected by PhillipCapital. The company's EBITDA margin is expected to be 34%, supported by a favourable product mix and operating leverage benefits, Nuvama said.

The defence manufacturing sector is expected to see robust growth of around 19%, said PhillipCapital. This growth will be mainly driven by the government's allocation of INR 2.2 trillion towards defence capital expenditure in the financial year 2026-27 (Apr-Mar), the brokerage added.

The company will post its financial results for the June quarter Thursday. Investors will watch out for increasing domestic production, a strong procurement pipeline, and sustained government focus on advanced defence capabilities to support the company's order inflows and execution.

Data Pattern is a defence electronic equipment design and manufacturing company. The company specialises in radar, electronic warfare, rugged displays, fire control systems, launch vehicle check-outs, data buoys, satellite, launch vehicle sub systems, and automatic test equipment.

At 1418 IST, shares of Data Patterns were traded at INR 4,440 on the National Stock Exchange, slightly up from Wednesday. The stock has risen over 10% since the company announced its earnings for the March quarter.

Of the six brokerage reports on the company available with Informist, three have a "buy" recommendation, on the stock with an average target price of INR 4,173, which is 6% lower than the current market price. Three brokerages have a "hold" call on the stock with an average target price of INR 3,815.
