MUMBAI – Zensar Technologies Ltd. Wednesday reported a sequential decline in its net profit for the June quarter, almost in line with the Street's view. The company's revenue from operations reported modest growth, also nearly in line with the Street's view.

 

Zensar Tech's consolidated net profit for the June quarter fell 13% on quarter to INR 1.84 billion. Analysts had estimated the company's net profit at INR 1.83 billion. The company's consolidated revenue from operations was up 4% on quarter to INR 15.08 billion for the June quarter. Analysts had estimated the company's revenue from operations at INR 14.98 billion. In constant currency terms, the company's revenue was up 1% on quarter at $159.5 million but was down 2% on year.

 

The company's total expenses were up 6% on quarter at INR 13.19 billion from INR 12.40 billion in the trailing quarter. The company's employee benefits expense, which constitutes around 70% of total expenses, fell over 1% on quarter to INR 9.22 billion. 

 

Zensar Tech's earnings before interest and tax were INR 1.92 billion, down nearly 10% from INR 2.13 billion in the trailing quarter. The company's EBIT margin was 12.8%, down from 14.7% in the trailing quarter. The company's gross profit margin was down to 29.7% in the June quarter from 32.7% in the March quarter.

 

The company's order book was down 63% sequentially to $149.2 million. The company's attrition rate fell sequentially 20 basis points to 9.6% in the June quarter. Except the company's banking, financial services, and insurance segment, which constituted around 48% of revenue for the June quarter, all other verticals reported a sequential and on-year decline in their revenue in constant currency terms. In geographical terms, only the US region posted a 2.5% sequential revenue growth in the June quarter. 

 

Zensar Tech's $10 million and above clients increased to 19 from 16 in the year-ago quarter and as well as the trailing quarter. The company's $1 million and above clients rose to 89 from 83 in the March quarter.

The company detailed its June quarter earnings post market hours. Wednesday, shares of the company closed at INR 534.95 apiece on the National Stock Exchange, down 2% from Tuesday.  End
