NEW DELHI – Shyam Metalics and Energy Ltd. Wednesday said it had commissioned a new 1.5 million tonnes per annum beneficiation plant in Sambalpur, Odisha, with an investment of INR 1.5 billion. The new facility, which is operational, will upgrade low-grade ore into high-quality feedstock, driving raw material optimisation and significantly enhancing profitability, the company said in an exchange filing.
"Upgrading lower-grade minerals extends mine life, minimises waste, and ensures optimal utilisation of existing reserves," the exchange filing said.
The processing of low-grade ore in-house significantly reduces reliance on costly external feedstock, creating strong cost synergies and boosting overall operating margins, the company said. For the June quarter, the company's consolidated net profit was INR 3.45 billion on revenues of INR 54.55 billion. Wednesday, shares of the company closed 0.64% higher at INR 1,033.60 on the National Stock Exchange. End
