HYDERABAD – Eicher Motors Ltd. reported a consolidated net profit of INR 14.63 billion, up 21.4% on year for the June quarter, while its revenue from operations rose 31.6% to INR 66.32 billion. The company's revenue growth was marginally lower than the rise in total expenses for the quarter.
The automotive manufacturer beat the analysts estimates on top line and bottom line for the quarter. Analysts had estimated Echier Motors June quarter net profit at INR 13.80 billion on revenue of INR 63.63 billion. More
Eicher Motors makes Royal Enfield motor cycles along with commercial vehicles and buses in partnership with Volvo group through its subsidiary VE Commercial Vehicles. The joint venture, a key contributor to the overall performance reported INR 66.10 billion revenue, up nearly 17% on year.
"We are pleased to have delivered our best-ever first quarter, with sales of 24,815 units, growing 14.8% year-on-year, while maintaining our number one position in the LMD (light and medium duty) truck market," the company said quoting B. Srinivas, managing director and chief executive officer.
VE Commercial reported INR 1.68 billion of profit for the quarter against INR 1.57 billion a year ago.
The company's consolidated earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortisation improved to INR 15.91 billion from INR 12.03 billion a year ago. The VE Commercial EBITDA for the quarter improved to INR 5.41 billion from INR 5.11 billion a year ago.
Eicher Motors total expenses for the quarter rose nearly 32% on year to INR 53.41 billion. The cost of raw materials rose 21.6% on year to INR 33.24 billion and other expenses rose 9.2% on year to INR 7.13 billion.
ANDHRA PLANT
Eicher Motors board approved a greenfield motorcycle plant at Tada in Andhra Pradesh with an estimated investment of INR 12.25 billion in the first phase, the company said. The company has plans to invest a total of INR 25 billion on Andhra unit in phases.
he first phase of the plant will have a capacity of making 450,000 motorcycles per year. The plant is expected to be commissioned during 2029-30 (Apr-Mar), the company said. The new plant is planned to strengthen its capacity to meet the future demand, the company said. On Wednesday, shares of Eicher Motors ended at INR 7,779 apiece on the National Stock Exchange, down 0.7% from the previous close. End
