NEW DELHI – State-run GAIL (India) Ltd. and Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilizers Ltd. have signed a memorandum of understanding to jointly set up a gas-based fertiliser project in Maharashtra through a special purpose vehicle, GAIL said Wednesday. The proposed urea plant, with a production capacity of 1.27 million tonnes per annum, is envisaged to be established in the Vidarbha region along GAIL's Mumbai-Nagpur-Jharsuguda natural gas pipeline.
"To facilitate the implementation of the project, GAIL has entered a strategic partnership with RCF, with both organisations working collaboratively to take the project from conceptualisation to successful implementation," GAIL said in the exchange filing. Under the agreement, GAIL and RCF will jointly develop and implement the project, leveraging GAIL's natural gas infrastructure and RCF's expertise in fertiliser manufacturing.
For the March quarter, GAIL (India) had reported a net profit of INR 12.62 billion on revenue of INR 347.97 billion, while RCF reported a consolidated net profit of INR 1.89 billion on revenues of INR 55.81 billion.
Wednesday, GAIL's shares closed almost flat at INR 175.12 on the National Stock Exchange, while Rashtriya Chemical's shares ended at INR 127.92, up 1.3% from the previous close. End
