MUMBAI – Staffing solutions company TeamLease Services Ltd. posted a strong growth in its consolidated net profit for the June quarter, beating Street estimates. The company reported a net profit of INR 348.70 million, up 31% on year from INR 265.4 million. Analysts' consensus estimate for the bottom line was INR 309.50 million. Sequentially, the net profit fell 21% from INR 439.1 million.

The company's revenue from operations rose to INR 30.35 billion for the June quarter, up 6% on year from INR 28.69 billion. The top line was slightly above the consensus estimate of INR 30.12 billion. Revenue growth was driven by net associate additions in general and specialised staffing segments.

The operating earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortisation for the June quarter were up 18% to INR 380 million. The EBITDA margin was 1.1% compared to 1.0% for the year-ago quarter.

TeamLease's revenues from general staffing rose nearly 5% on year to INR 27.97 billion and specialised staffing revenues increased 21% to INR 1.88 billion in the June quarter. Revenues from the other human resource services segment rose 12% to INR 503.7 million. In the June quarter, the company added 28 new clients in the general staffing segment and 18 clients in degree apprenticeship.

The company reported a net addition of over 700 associates in the June quarter, with 4,130 net additions in general and specialised staffing. This was partly offset by the planned Degree Apprenticeship exits of 5,500 trainees. The total headcount dropped 3% on year because a large non-banking financial company insourced about 23,000 associates onto its own payroll in the March quarter due to regulatory requirements. TeamLease added 127 new enterprise client logos across all business lines.

"While the overall hiring trends are softer in general staffing, our new logo addition and hiring productivity are on upward trajectory," Suparna Mitra, managing director and chief executive officer, said. "Continued formalisation of the economy and growing demand for comprehensive talent solutions are reshaping the employment landscape. TeamLease is well positioned to participate in these structural opportunities and shall make right investments in technology-enabled platforms, deeper leadership team and higher-margin adjacencies," she added.

Wednesday, the company's shares closed at INR 1,299.20 apiece on the National Stock Exchange, unchanged from Tuesday. Teamlease announced its June quarter earnings after market hours.  End
