MUMBAI – India received 13.2 millimetres of rainfall on Wednesday, 40?ove the normal of 9.4 millimetres, according to data from the India Meteorological Department. During Jun. 1–Jul. 29, the country received 366.1 mm of rain, 15?low the normal of 428.3 mm for the period.

 

Of the four homogeneous regions in the country, east and northeast India received "deficient" rainfall on Wednesday, northwest India received "normal" rainfall, the southern Peninsula registered "excess" rainfall and central India received "large excess" rainfall, the weather department's data showed.

 

East and northeast India received 34?low-normal rainfall at 9.1 mm, while central India recorded 20.9 mm of rainfall, 95% above normal. South India received 51?ove-normal rains at 10.3 mm, and northwest India recorded 8.6 mm of rainfall, 15?ove normal.

 

Wednesday, Odisha received the highest rainfall at 60.9 mm, followed by Chhattisgarh at 40.4 mm, according to the data. Of the 36 subdivisions in the country, rainfall was "large excess", "excess", and "large deficient" in seven each, "deficient" in nine, and "normal" in six, according to the data.
