Lower raw material cost lifts Honeywell Auto Q1 PAT

MUMBAI – Honeywell Automation India Ltd. posted strong growth in its standalone profit for the June quarter, as expenses fell even though revenues were up a paltry 2%. The cost of raw materials fell 12% and this took total expenses down almost 1%. Other income rose slightly and as a result, total income rose slightly more than revenue from operations.
The company's net profit for the June quarter rose to INR 1.51 billion, up nearly 21% from INR 1.25 billion in the year ago quarter. Its revenue from operations rose to INR 12.04 billion, up nearly 2% on year from INR 11.83 billion. The company's other income rose to INR 464 million, up nearly 11% on year from INR 418 million. Its total income rose to INR 12.50 billion, up 2% on year from INR 12.25 billion.
The company's total expenses declined marginally to INR 10.47 billion. The company's cost of materials consumed declined to INR 5.84 billion, down 12% on year. It reported employee benefits expense of INR 2.33 billion, up over 7% on year. The purchases of stock-in trade rose to INR 1.31 billion, up 17% on year.
Shares of Honeywell Automation fell more than 2% after the announcement of the earnings and were traded at INR 40,005 apiece on the National Stock Exchange at 1459 IST. The shares were, however, up 6% over Tuesday.
The company's finance cost for the June quarter rose to INR 23 million, up 21% on year from INR 19 million. Honeywell Automation is a part of Honeywell Inc. of US. It provides integrated automation, software solutions, and engineering services in the field of automation. Wednesday, shares to Honeywell Automation closed at INR 40,105 on the National Stock Exchange, up nearly 7% over Tuesday. End
