MUMBAI – Craftsman Automation Ltd.'s consolidated net profit more than doubled on year in the June quarter, largely due to robust growth in sales. A moderate rise in expenses compared to increase in revenue, also aided in reporting strong net profit figures. Both bottom line and top line surpassed the range of three estimates available with Informist. The company's shares rose sharply as soon as it released its earnings and at 1302 IST, shares of the compnay were up 5.9% at INR 9,801 apiece on the National Stock Exchange.
Craftsman Automation's consolidated net profit jumped 116% on year to INR 1.51 billion for the reporting quarter. This was also higher than the range of INR 909 million and INR 995 million estimated. The company's sales rose over 36% on year to INR 24.3 billion for the quarter under review. The top line also exceeded the range of INR 21.17 billion and INR 21.40 billion. While the net profit rose 29% on quarter, its sale rose only 9%.
The company's consolidated total income rose 37% on year and 9% sequentially to INR 24.55 billion for the June quarter. Its other income skyrocketted 364% on year to INR 230.8 million.
Its total expenses rose to INR 22.54 billion, up nearly 34% on year and almost 9% sequentially. Cost of sales and services contributed 65% to the total expenses. It was INR 14.58 billion, up nearly 42% on year and 19% sequentially. Gains from the company's change in inventories expanded to INR 1.07 billion from INR 671 million year ago.
The company reported strong growth across all of its businesses. Its consolidated powertrain business reported sales of INR 6.23 billion, up from INR 4.96 billion in the year-ago quarter. Its aluminium product sales were at INR 14.79 billion, higher than the INR 10.71 billion it reported in the year-ago quarter. The company's industrial and engineering segment sales rose to INR 3.30 billion, up on year from INR 2.16 billion.
On a standalone basis, Craftsman Automation net profit was INR 939.3 million on revenues of INR 14.84 billion for the June quarter. End
