Induction cook-tops, air coolers to drive V-Guard's Q1 net

MUMBAI – Consumer durables company V-Guard Industries Ltd. is expected to report good numbers for the June quarter due to strong summer demand for room air conditioners and air coolers, according to brokerages tracking the company.

 

The company is expected to report a standalone net profit of INR 1 billion for the June quarter, up 80% from INR 557 million in the year-ago quarter, according to the average of estimates from seven brokerages. The highest net profit estimate for the company is INR 1.2 billion from PhillipCapital Pvt. Ltd. and the lowest is INR 795 million from JM Financial Institutional Securities Pvt. Ltd.

 

The company's net sales are expected to increase 20% on year to INR 17 billion for the June quarter from INR 14 billion in the year-ago quarter, according to the estimates. The highest net sales estimate is INR 18 billion from PhillipCapital and the lowest is INR 16 billion from JM Financial.

 

Demand for V-Guard's room air conditioners and air coolers segment is expected to grow 3-6% on year in the June quarter, PhillipCapital said. Demand for lighting and switchgears is expected to grow 6-9% on year and that for washers is expected to grow more than 10% on year, the brokerage added.

 

The company is expected to report earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortisation of INR 1.6 billion for the June quarter, up from 1.2 billion in the year-ago quarter, according to the average of five estimates. The highest EBITDA estimate is INR 1.8 billion from PhillipCapital and the lowest is INR 1.2 billion from JM Financial.

 

The company's EBITDA margin is expected between 8.7% and 10.2% for the June quarter, according to five brokerage estimates. The highest estimate for the EBITDA margin is 10.2% from PhillipCapital and Nirmal Bang Equities Pvt. Ltd. and the lowest is 8.7% from HDFC Securities Ltd.  

 

The consumer durables sector is expected to see healthy revenue growth with demand for kitchen appliances rising in the June quarter. The demand surge is driven by the cuts in the goods and services tax and an increase in the induction cooktop sales caused by the liquefied petroleum gas crisis.

 

V-Guard Industries manufactures and sells electrical and home appliances. Its produces air coolers, water purifiers, kitchen appliances, fans, lighting, water heaters, switches, voltage stabilisers, inverters, and solar power systems. V-Guard will detail its earnings Wednesday. Tuesday, shares of V-Guard closed at INR 292.25 apiece on the National Stock Exchange. The shares are down 10% since the company announced its March quarter earnings on May 12.
