MUMBAI – India recorded 10.4 millimetres of rainfall on Tuesday, 4?ove the normal of 10 millimetres, according to data from the India Meteorological Department. During Jun. 1–Jul. 28, the country received 352.9 millimetres of rain, 16?low the normal of 418.9 millimetres for the period.

 

Of the four homogeneous regions of the country, two--east and northeast India and northwest India--registered "deficient" rains Tuesday while central India received "excess" rainfall. South India registered "normal" rainfall, the weather department's data showed.

 

East and northeast India received 35?low-normal rainfall at 8.6 millimetres and central India recorded 17.3 millimetres of rainfall, 49% above normal, Tuesday. South India received 10% below-normal rains at 6.1 millimetres and northwest India recorded 6.4 millimetres of rainfall, 26?low normal.

 

Tuesday, Odisha received the highest rainfall at 49.8 millimetres, followed by Konkan and Goa at 45.6 millimetres, according to the data. Of the 36 subdivisions in the country, rainfall was "large excess" in seven, "excess" in four, "large deficient" in eight, "deficient" in 12, and "normal" in five, according to the data.  End
