MUMBAI – Pfizer Ltd. reported higher-than-expected revenue and net profit for the June quarter as the growth in the company's top line exceeded the growth in its expenses for the quarter. The company reported a net profit of INR 2.04 billion, up almost 7% on year, exceeding analysts' consensus expectations of INR 2.02 billion.
The company's revenue from operations rose more than 8% on year to INR 6.53 billion, also exceeding analysts' expectations of INR 6.45 billion. From the trailing quarter, the top line was up 4%. The company incurred total expenses of INR 4.21 billion during the quarter, 2.6% higher than a year ago. Purchase of stock-in-trade rose sharply by 47% from the year-ago quarter.
The company's finance cost, which accounts for the smallest portion of its total expenses, fell sharply by 55% on year to nearly INR 15 million in the June quarter.
Under expenses, the cost of materials consumed, the company's second-largest expense, rose more than 18% on year to INR 1.05 billion. Employee benefits expenses on the other hand fell 14% to INR 821 million.
The company's depreciation and amortisation fell 1% on year to INR 142.6 million. Other expenses were at INR 834.2 million, down almost 3% on year and 13% on quarter. The tax outgo rose more than 6% on year to INR 722.1 million.
Tuesday, shares of Pfizer Ltd. closed at INR 4,710.70 on the National Stock Exchange, up 0.4% from Monday. The company announced its June quarter earnings during market hours. End
