MUMBAI – Pine Labs posted a four-fold jump in its consolidated net profit for the June quarter on the back of a strong growth in sales and in earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation. A lower growth in expenses and a negative tax spend also boosted the profit. 

 

The consolidated net profit of the fintech company for the June quarter rose to INR 195.7 million from INR 47.9 million in the year ago quarter. Its net sales rose to INR 7.37 billion, up nearly 20% on year from INR 6.16 billion. The company's adjusted EBITDA rose to INR 1.26 billion, while its EBITDA margin was 17.1%.

 

Pine Labs' expenses for the June quarter rose to INR 7.28 billion, up nearly 11% from INR 6.58 billion. The company's transaction and related costs rose to INR 969.6 million, up nearly 63% on year from INR 595.1 million. Its employees benefits expense declined to INR 2.68 billion, down over 8% on year from INR 2.91 billion.

The company's purchase of stock-in trade rose to INR 1.17 billion, up 58% on year and 9% on quarter. Its finance cost declined to INR 128 million, down 40% on year and 24% on quarter. The company's depreciation and amortisation expense rose to INR 733 million, up 12% on year and 3% on quarter. The company's other expenses rose to INR 1.58 billion, up 22% on year from INR 1.29 billion. 

 

The fintech company has processed approximately INR 4.22 trillion in gross transaction value. The company's digital checkout points base grew 18% on year to 2.17 million, with more than 70% of transactions now flowing through the unified payments interface, the company said and added this was a structural signal that enterprises and mid-market merchants are increasingly adopting screen-based, UPI-first checkout surfaces. 

 

The company's international revenue rose 21% on year to INR 1.14 billion. As of Jun. 30, the company's borrowings were INR 1.87 billion and its net cash balance was INR 21.23 billion.

 

In the June quarter, Pine Labs acquired 100% stake in an e-commerce software as a service startup – Shopflo Technologies Pvt. Ltd. for INR 880

million. The group has consolidated the financial results of Shopflo effective May 26 in its consolidated financial results for the June quarter. After the company declared its earnings, the shares rose and ended up 3% at INR 152.94 on the National Stock Exchange.  End
