KOLKATA – Strong execution of current deals, especially in the US, particularly in domains covering artificial intelligence-led engineering, data, and cloud services, helped Coforge Ltd. beat the Street's revenue estimates and report a strong consolidated net profit and revenue growth for the June quarter.
The company's consolidated net profit fell 15% on quarter but rose over 63% on year to INR 5.19 billion in the June quarter, missing the Street's estimate of INR 5.42 billion. Consolidated revenue from operations increased 24% on quarter and 49% on year to over INR 55 billion in the aforesaid quarter, as against the Street's projection of nearly INR 52 billion.
The information technology major's revenue, in dollar terms, was $592.2 million. Over $100 million of this comprised sales from the Encora business it acquired in April earlier this year, the company said. Revenue in dollar terms went up 21.1% on quarter. Since the company earns most of its revenue from projects outside India, mostly from the American continent, it is subject to foreign exchange volatility which the company substantially hedges.
The company's organic sales, in constant currency terms, grew 1.1% sequentially for the quarter ended June. Organic sales growth, excluding the contribution from exited businesses, was 5.2% on a sequential basis in constant currency.
Sales from North America, which accounted for 53% of the company's total sales mix for the June quarter, grew by over 35% on quarter to INR 34.18 billion and by 3.5% in organic constant currency. The value of fresh orders in the region was $364 million. The mid-cap IT company's total fresh order intake totalled $691 million for the June quarter.
Revenues from Europe, West Asia, and Africa increased 19% on quarter to INR 14.92 billion and existing clients contributed to this sales growth. The company did not add any new clients in this region during Apr-Jun, according to the investor presentation. In constant currency terms, organic sales from Europe, West Asia, and Africa rose 8.4% on quarter.
Coforge's earnings before interest and taxes were $94.5 million in the June quarter, up 17% sequentially and 80% on year. The EBIT margin came in at 16%, as against 16.6% for the corresponding quarter a year ago.
The company's earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation rose 22.5% on quarter to INR 11.23 billion for the quarter under review. The EBITDA margin stood at 20.3%, down 28 basis points on quarter.
"With the Encora acquisition completely operationally integrated and with strong demand, record visibility, and a rapidly expanding pipeline of AI-led opportunities, FY27 is shaping up to be an exceptional performance year for the firm," Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director Sudhir Singh said in the investor presentation.
In the June quarter, Coforge's total contract value of orders was $691 million. Its executable order book was $2.23 billion for the next twelve months, as of Jun. 30. The company signed four large deals in the June quarter in North America, Europe and Latin America. Its total headcount as of Jun. 30 stood at 46,228 after it net added 10,451 employees during Apr-Jun.
Coforge launched 'Coforge Nuuron', an AI operating system designed to help enterprises industrialise AI-driven outcomes across the business by orchestrating knowledge, decision intelligence, AI agents, and execution systems into a unified autonomous operating model.
The company declared an interim dividend of INR 4 apiece for the current financial year. The record date to decide the eligibility of shareholders for the dividend is set as Aug. 3. The company had declared its results for the June quarter early Tuesday. At 0922 IST, shares of the company traded 6.7% higher at INR 1,630 on the National Stock Exchange. End
