MUMBAI – CCL Products (India) Ltd. reported a robust jump in net profit for the June quarter as the increase in income outpaced the increase in expenses. A sharp decline in tax paid also aided the profit growth. The company's net profit growth beat the Street's view. The company also reported strong growth in revenue from operations for the quarter.
The company's consolidated net profit for the June quarter grew 61% on year to INR 1.17 billion, beating analysts' estimate of INR 1.07 billion. The company's net profit for the year-ago quarter was INR 724.49 million. Sequentially, the net profit is up 2% from INR 1.15 billion in the March quarter.
The company's consolidated total revenue from operations for the quarter rose 14% on year to INR 12 billion. In the year-ago quarter, the revenue from operations was INR 10.56 billion. Sequentially, the revenue is down 2%. Analysts had estimated the company's revenue from operations at INR 12.29 billion.
The company's total expenses for the June quarter rose 11% on year to INR 10.75 billion from INR 9.63 billion in the year-ago quarter. The cost of materials consumed was up 26% on year at INR 8.14 billion, accounting for around 76% of the total expenses.
The company's other expenses were up 23% on year in the June quarter at INR 1.77 billion. The employee benefits expenses rose 24% on year to INR 519 million. The company's tax paid for the June quarter fell 44% on year to INR 122 million, aiding the sharp growth in net profit.
The coffee manufacturer's standalone June quarter net profit stood at INR 2.24 billion on revenues of INR 5.77 billion. Monday, its shares closed at INR 1,174.40 apiece on the National Stock Exchange, up 0.8% from Friday. The company detailed its June quarter earnings after market hours. End
