MUMBAI – India's capital markets are entering the "most exciting" phase in their history as investor participation is growing and capital formation is also expanding, according to Securities and Exchange Board of India Chairman Tuhin Kanta Pandey. "India's markets are becoming increasingly integrated with global markets. And, technology is reshaping every aspect of finance," Pandey said on Monday in an interaction with SEBI officers undergoing an induction programme at the National Institute of Securities Markets.
Even as regulations evolve, technologies change, and markets become more sophisticated, the public's confidence in markets must remain, Pandey said, wishing the new joinees a fulfilling career at SEBI. "At its core, SEBI exists to ensure that India's capital markets remain worthy of the trust that millions of investors place in them every single day," he said.
Pandey said SEBI has created a 'capacity building vertical' to plan and monitor learning across the organisation. "This induction programme has been extended and redesigned with focused classroom sessions, institutional visits and practical exposure. I encourage you to absorb as much as possible," he added. End
