MUMBAI – Gravita India Ltd. Monday reported a robust top-line growth for the June quarter, driven by consolidation of Rashtriya Metal Industries Ltd.'s copper business. Its bottom line also rose for the quarter and was in line with analysts' estimates. However, the company's net profit growth was capped due to a sharp rise in expenses.
The recycling company's consolidated net profit was INR 1.06 billion for the quarter, up 14% on year. This was within expectations of INR 1.02 billion. Gravita's consolidated revenue for the quarter rose nearly 42% on year to INR 14.75 billion, slightly higher than analysts' projections of INR 14.20 billion. Revenue growth for the quarter was led by copper sales of INR 3.76 billion. The company acquired a 98.95% stake in Rashtriya Metal Industries for INR 5.59 billion.
Gravita's revenue from its major lead segment rose nearly 3% to INR 9.55 billion for the June quarter from INR 9.28 billion in the year-ago quarter. Sales from the aluminium segment rose 17% to INR 1.11 billion from INR 944.10 million a year ago. Plastic segment revenue rose over 62% on year to INR 266.30 million for the quarter and turnkey projects' revenue was up at INR 46.8 million.
The company's total expenses rose nearly 46% on year to INR 13.91 billion for the quarter, led by a rise in raw material costs and other expenses. Gravita's cost of materials consumed was up around 38% to INR 11.54 billion and other expenses rose 54% to INR 830.80 million. Its employee benefit expenses were up over 37% on year at INR 610.40 million.
The company announced the closure of operations of its subsidiary Gravita Metal Inc. with effect from Saturday. This was done as the same line of business is being carried out at the other manufacturing facility at Jaipur, which offers greater operational and cost efficiencies. "In view of the same, and in the interest of optimal utilization of the Group's resources, the management has decided to discontinue operations of the said subsidiary," it said.
The turnover of the arm was INR 922.40 million for 2025-26 (Apr-Mar) and accounted for 2.65% of the company's total revenue. Gravita India declared its June quarter results post market hours Monday. Its shares closed 0.7% higher at INR 1,788.80 on the National Stock Exchange. End
