MUMBAI - R R Kabel Ltd. posted strong growth in its consolidated net profit for the June quarter, driven by robust demand in its wires and cables segment. The company delivered its highest-ever quarterly revenue, up 54% from a year earlier, led by strong export growth and a rise in domestic demand.

 

R R Kabel reported a consolidated net profit of INR 2.05 billion for the June quarter, up 129% on year. The net profit was sharply higher than analysts' expectation of INR 1.56 billion. The company's revenue from operations rose to INR 31.68 billion from INR 20.59 billion in the year-ago quarter.

 

The total expenses of the company rose 51% on year to INR 29.41 billion for the reporting quarter. Cost of materials consumed, the company's highest expense for the June quarter, rose 58% on year to INR 25.95 billion and accounted for 88% of total expenses. Other expenses rose 26% on year to INR 1.75 billion. 

 

Higher cost of material and depreciation limited the growth in profits during the June quarter. The earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortistaion were INR 2.85 billion for the June quarter, almost double on year. The EBITDA margin improved to 9.0% from 7.0% in the a year-ago quarter, driven by an improved business mix, margin expansion, cost discipline, and execution efficiency. 

 

The company reported a negative change in inventories of finished goods, stock-in-trade, work-in-progress and scrap at INR 1.69 billion during the quarter, significantly higher than the INR 615 million recorded in the corresponding quarter last year. The exports contributed 29% to the company's top line in the June quarter.

 

The wires and cables business continued to outperform, delivering 57% year-on-year revenue growth, supported by strong volume growth, robust execution and favorable industry dynamics, the company said in a press release. The segment profit more than doubled, rising 105% from the year-ago period, driven by margin expansion and effective cost management. Segment margin improved by 232 basis points year-on-year, reflecting a better product mix, disciplined commodity management and operating efficiencies.

 

R R Kabel's fast-moving electrical goods segment also posted strong performance, with revenue growth driven by sustained demand for premium and new products across key categories, along with continued expansion of the company's distribution network. The company achieved operational breakeven in the electrical goods business during the June quarter.

 

"Our strategic focus on expanding the cables portfolio, strengthening our distribution network and enhancing execution capabilities continues to yield encouraging results," said Mahendrakumar Kabra, managing director of R R Kabel.

 

On Monday, R R Kabel's shares ended at INR 2,525.30 on the National Stock Exchange, up 1.3% from the previous close. The company announced its financial results during market hours.  End
