MUMBAI – A large crowd gathered at Mumbai's Shivaji Park for a 'Tiranga March' on Sunday. The gathering, which began at 1000 IST, continued till at least 1400 IST, with several groups of youngsters celebrating Dharmendra Pradhan's resignation as Union education minister and chanting slogans in support of the Cockroach Janta Party.

Protestors, largely youngsters, moved from one group to another, sharing slogans and placards. While there was no clear demand from them, some placards demanded the resignation of Roads and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari, who is being criticised for the ethanol blending policy. A section of the crowd also called out the violence against protestors in Delhi, criticised the Delhi police, and expressed anger towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Several women were part of the gathering and some even led marches from the front. Young girls could be seen giving interviews to local media channels. No major TV channel cameras were visible near Shivaji Park and, at one point, protestors booed a car believed to be carrying members of TV9 channel.

Eateries around the Dadar area were packed as several protestors headed for lunch once the Tiranga March seemed to be ending. After 1215 IST, the police started ordering protestors to clear the roads around Shivaji Park, splitting protestors into even smaller groups.

One such group of protestors reached Dadar metro station, and continued to chant slogans on the pavement. When two police officers ordered the protestors to move foward, the crowd started singing 'Jana Gana Mana' and refused to move; it dispersed soon after.

Another such group headed towards the Dadar railway station and chanted slogans, mostly against Prime Minister Modi. The march continued on the streets near the railway station, as well as on a foot overbridge in the station premises. The group dispersed by around 1400 IST.  End
