MUMBAI – Vedant Fashions Ltd. Saturday reported a rise in its net profit for the June quarter, beating the Street's estimate by more than 20%. The company reported a net profit of INR 806.11 million, up more than 14% on year. Sequentially, the net profit is down more than 29%. Analysts had estimated the company's bottom line at INR 667.50 million. Vedant Fashions had reported a net profit of INR 702.57 million for the year-ago quarter.
The company reported a 7% year-on-year increase in revenue from operations to INR 3 billion, in line with the Street's estimate. It had reported revenues of INR 2.81 billion for the year-ago quarter. On a sequential basis, the revenue is down more than 24%.
Vedant Fashions reported earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortisation of INR 1.34 billion, up nearly 11% on year. The EBITDA margin increased by 140 basis points to 44.6%. Vedant Fashions manufactures and retails ethnic celebration wear.
The company's total expenses stood at INR 2.25 billion. On a sequential basis, the total expenses were down nearly 19%, but on a yearly basis, they were up 5%. Stock-in-trade was down 48% on year and 76% sequentially. The financial costs of the company fell 8% on year. Other expenses were down 1% on year and more than 19% sequentially.
The board reappointed Ravi Modi as chairman and managing director for a term of five years starting Aug. 28. It also reappointed Shilpi Modi as whole-time director for five years from Aug. 28. Manish Mahendra Choksi was reappointed as non-executive independent director.
Friday, Vedant Fashions shares had ended at INR 402.3 on the National Stock Exchange, largely unchanged from Thursday. End
