NEW DELHI – The Cockroach Janta Party Saturday said the central government had agreed to all its demands and announced the withdrawal of its agitation over the pre-medical entrance exam paper leak. The announcement came at a joint press briefing of Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda and Cockroach Janta Party representatives after a brief meeting at the Constitution Club here.

 

Earlier in the day, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan tendered his resignation from the Council of Ministers. Pradhan sent his resignation to the prime minister. His ouster was among the primary demands of the agitators.

 

"Cockroach Janta Party withdraws its nationwide agitation with immediate effect. All demands of the Cockroach Janta Party have been accepted by the government," Spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka said. Saurav Das, another party spokesperson, said the government has agreed to withdraw all the first information reports and police cases registered in Delhi as well as in other Bharatiya Janata Party-ruled states against the protesters.

 

"It has been agreed that no action will be taken against the participants and organisers of these protests for this activity in the future as well," Nadda added.

 

On the compensation to the bereaved families of National Eligibility cum Entrance Test aspirants who had ended their lives, allegedly from trauma after the question paper was leaked and the examination cancelled, Nadda said a "maximum possible" amount will be paid out. "We have full sympathy with the families of the children who lost their lives," the former BJP president said. "An honourable compensation, as per rules and regulations, whatever maximum is possible, will be given to them."

 

Nadda, who held discussions with the agitators' representatives over the past few days on behalf of the central government, said the government will consider the five-point examination reform charter shared by the Cockroach Janta Party, and further discussions will be held later.  End
